Eight color plates in the front of the book. 9 1/2" x 12" Hard cover with no dust jacket. 3 3/4" thick. Bright gilt lettering on spine and front cover. Light cover edge wear. A scrape to the front cover. Binding, both inside front and back covers, is tight. On the first blank page is an inscription in light pencil: "This dictionary belonged to Carl Witham Aunt Ella's first husband. He was an avid puzzle solver along with all types of contests. He died in the 1950's or 60's of pancreatic cancer. Ella died in 1971 of Breast cancer." 'Poinsettia' is written on the top of the opposite page in the same hand. I did not see any other previous owner markings, but with 3000+ paes, I could easily have missed. The page Titled, "Noah Webster" has pieces torn off effecting the text. the title page also has pieces torn off, not effecting text. Both pages have significant folds.There are other folds and minor flaws to the rest of the book, but none that effect the usability of the book. ALSO LAID IN : Addenda Section Webster's New International Dictionary, Second Edition. pages xcviii - cxxxii (from a-z) 9" x 12" staple bound with heavy edge wear. When laid in the page edges of the Addenda stick slightly outside the dictionary causing the wear. Not ex-library, not remaindered and not a facsimile reprint.
