Motor Guide to California published by National Automobile Club. 1926. 4 1/2" x 7 1/8" in a 6 ring leatherette cover loose-leaf binder with  National Automobile Club emblem embossed in slightly faded gold  on the front cover. The pages inside are slightly smaller being about 3 3/4" x 6 3/4". The title page has completely worn through at the rings. The book is divided into sections: a 17 page "Service Guide" showing where and how to contact for car repairs; 26 pages of milage charts showing distances of smaller cities from San Francisco, Sacramento, Fresno and Los Angeles; Index maps 27 pages encompassing 25 maps covering the entire state of California, larger versions of which could be acquired from the National Automobile Club; Trunk Highways consisting of 26 maps on 27 pages showing major routes from city to city; California Strip Maps 27 maps on 28 pages showing "the main laterals of California"; and California District Maps 24 pages of maps, most if not all of which fold out. OF course all of this information is current and up to date for today's driver - as long as you are in a time machine bringing you back to 100 years ago. There are some pencil notations on the blank page following the service guide and I found a handful of locations marked in ink and pencil in the milage charts with some light pencil notation in a blank space at the end of that section. I did not see any notations in the map sections, although I did not look closely at the fold off maps. How to open the title page? All the rest of the pages appear firmly within the book with no rings worn through in the paper. I did see one or two incidental unpublished page folds. Other than a few internal smudges, that might be foxing,  and some soiling on the title page, the pages appeared clean and bright and completely flexible.  Not ex-library, not remaindered and not a facsimile reprint.
