Photographer Zana Briski first traveled to India in 1995 to document the lives of women, earning a NPPA Picture of the Year Award. In 2001, after discovering the red light district in 1997, she began filming what would become the 2005 Academy Award documentary film ‘Born into Brothels’. In 2005 Briskie published the book ‘Kids With Cameras’ celebrating the striking photographs taken by the children of Calcutta’s Red Light District.
