Both volumes show past separation of binding inside covers, but are tight, probably repaired. Previous owner small name and address sticker on the half title page vol 1 and another previous owner name in black ink from 1898 on the facing page. Black rubbing of some sort on those pages. A 1/2" diameter water splotch on a page in the summary of contents. Volume 2 has some light pencil bracketing on not many pages. Pencil notations on the last 2 white pages inside the back cover. Both volumes: Some bumping to spines and cover tips. No other previous owner markings but I may have missed some. No tears, folds or creases to pages, but some abrasion and faults to the end papers.
