Malleus Maleficarum by Montague Summers. Pushkin Press. Printed by Replika Process Lund Humphries, London. 1948. 5 3/4" x 9" xxi, 278 pages Hardcover with no dust jacket. Bright gilt lettering on the front cover and spine. Light bumping on bottom of the spine and cover tips. Cloth has worn through on about 1/4" of the top back cover tip and the bottom of front cover tip. Otherwise wear is mostly light. There is some surface wear to the cover faces, but nothing approaching wearing though the surface. Inside the front cover is an envelope and check-out card from somebody's private library (not an institutional library). Check out card has only information about the book itself. It appears the previous owner never lent the book to anybody else. Pages may be lightly tanned with no effect on paper flexibility. I see no other previous owner markings. No tears, folds or creases to pages. Binding is tight with no looseness to pages. Not institutional ex-library, not remaindered and not a facsimile reprint. For sale by Jon Wobber, bookseller since 1978. LA17a
Good.
There is an introduction from Montague Summers dated 1946. So I suspect this may be the first printing of that introduction. Summers' Malleus Maleficarum Was originally published in 1928.
