Homesteader by Oscar Micheaux. Western Book Supply Co, Sioux City, Iowa. (1917) Hard cover. First printing. No later printings indicated. The plates are all present. Heavy wear to all cover tips with general wear on the cover. There is a crease down the middle of the spine. Gilt decoration and lettering on front cover and spine are still bright and unfaded. Binding shows some looseness, but there is no danger of the book falling apart. The plate facing page 22 through page 26 appear to have been improperly tipped in as those pages stick out a little bit from the page block. Also there is a thin hole inside the margin of page 26 coming nowhere near text. The edge of the page block is tanned and/or soiled and I find a some finger prints on two or three pages. Homesteader was Micheaux's third book. There had been negotiations to nturn it into his first feature film, but they fell through. Later he did produce his first feature film entitltled 'Homesteader', but that was based on his first book 'The Conquest'. from Wikipedia
