First printing of Dr Seuss second book for children with hats inside the front cover going left to right from big to small and vice versa inside the back cover and cloth on the spine runs 3/16" past the gutter as per Younger and Hirsch. Hardcover with no dust jacket. Cover edge wear, heavy on the cover tips. Browning inside the covers. Slight browning to the edges of the pages. There seems to be a bit of a wave to the top of the pages, maybe from a moist envoronment. There is a bit of a wrinkle to the top of one of the back pages, probably from a rough page turn. The tipsof the last few pages have tiny corner folds. I find some page smudges. Erasure mark toward the top of the page inside the back cover. No tears to pages. Binding is tight with no looseness to pages. Not ex-library, not remaindered and not a facsimile reprint. For sale by Jon Wobber, bookseller since 1978. GF09a
