Autobiography of Malcolm X by Malcolm X with Alex Haley. Grove Press, New York (1965). "First printing" stated. 455 pages plus 16 pages of black and white photographs. Hard cover with dust jacket. DUST JACKET: Light edge wear. Water stain on the bottom 1 1/2" of the spine. Not price-clipped. A fold on the front and rear flaps. No clips tears or missing pieces. It looks like there may be light creasing at the top of the spine of the dj. Some surface abraisions, nothing breaking the surface ink. Now protected in mylar dust jacket cover. BOOK: Light cover edge wear. Scotch tape marks on the cover and the paper inside the cover where an old dj protecter had been taped onto the book. It looks like there is an old glue spot on the first blank page that may have been intended for some sort of library label. This book may have been donated to a library and processing started, but it appears this book was never fully commissioned into the library. A discrete pencil notation inside the front ,"9/5 Ret. Apr.'66". This may be a clue as to the book never entering the library collection. Edges of page block soiled and tanned. Four pages have problem with a bad cut by the publisher, not effecting the text of the book. Otherwise no previous owner markings. No folds, creases or tears to pages. Binding is tight with no looseness to pages. Not ex-library, not remaindered, not a facsimile reprint. For sale by Jon Wobber, bookseller since 1978. CH10b

"It was often said he was the only man in America who could start a race riot - or stop one...He was angry, "the angriest black man in America"...he was the Negro leader who expressed perhaps etter than any other the fury and despair that have accumulated at the bottom of our social pyramid. But the Malcolm X who lived inside this bold black captain, the public did not know at all." - Blurb on the dust jacket.
