Flora of the Vicinity of San Francisco by H H Behr.M.D. self published (1988)

Flora of the Vicinity of San Francisco by H H Behr.M.D. self published (1988) 4 3/4" x 7 1/4" 364 page plus 14 page appendix plus 1 page errata Hard cover with no dust jacket. Gilt lettering on the spine is somewhat faded, but still quite legible. A layer of cloth at the top of the spine has separated, but still attached. Otherwise, moderate cover edge wear. Scuffing and soiling on the front cover. Previous owner name in a light ink on the front endpaper. Erasure marks on the first blank page. Paper is lightly tanned but still quite flexible. Some foxing on pages 184 and 185. Pages 186 and 187 have not been separated in publication (something a pair of scissors could solve, but I am unwilling to). I find other previous owner markings. No tears, folds or creases to pages. Binding is tight with no looseness to pages. Not ex-library, not remaindered and not a facsimile reprint. For sale by Jon Wobber, bookseller since 1978. IC31a

"The territory to which this work applies extends from Sonoma to Santa Clara, and from Niles to the Pacific Ocean.
Since the year 1884, when the Synopsis of Genera was published, there have been added several genera, which up to the time had escaped observation. Continued investigations will lead perhaps to the discovery of some more; certainly, they will lead to the addition of species hitherto unobserved in the territory." from the preface.

I note, in some plant descriptions is stated the edibility of some plants.

"Hans Hermann Behr (August 18, 1818, Köthen – March 6, 1904, San Francisco) was a German-American doctor, entomologist and botanist. At the time of his death, the San Francisco Chronicle reported that he was "reckoned among mental giants" and that he was "an authority of world-wide prominence" in many branches of science." - Wikipedia
