Written by Edward Maryon, this book delves into the technical aspects of how sound is produced and perceived by the human ear, and how these factors contribute to the overall tone-color of a musical piece. The book begins by exploring the physics of sound, including how sound waves are produced and how they interact with different materials. It then moves on to discuss the physiology of the ear and how the brain processes sound, before delving into the various elements that contribute to tone-color, such as pitch, timbre, and harmonics.Throughout the book, Maryon provides detailed explanations and examples to help readers understand the concepts he is discussing. He also includes numerous diagrams and illustrations to aid in visualizing the various components of sound and tone-color.Overall, Marcotone: The Science of Tone-Color is an essential resource for anyone looking to deepen their understanding of music theory and the technical aspects of sound production." - booksamillion.com
