Art of this Century edited by Peggy Guggenheim. INSCRIBED BY GUGGENHEIM. Produced by Art Aid Corperation. (1942). "Of This Book 2500 copies have been printed by the Publishers Printing Company" stated. According to others many of these 2500 copies remained unsold and were destroyed. Inscribed (as best I can make out) "To Mrs Mary Hughes Call/ with best wishes/ Peggy Guggenheim/ June 22 - 45" on the first blank page. I don't know why I couldn't get my camera to focus on the inscription. 8" x 10 1/4" 156 page Hardcover with no dust jacket. Max Ernst line drawing is published on the front cover. Moderate cover edge wear. Dust soiling on the top edge of the page block. A small streak of stain there but I see no bleeding to the page surfaces. No other previous owner markings. No tears, folds or creases to pages. Binding is tight with no looseness to pages. Not ex-library, not remaindered and not a facsimile reprint. For sale by Jon Wobber, bookseller since 1978. IB14a
